I was a little limited on time this morning, but I really wanted to take advantage of the cloud cover, what a great change!!  I warm-up for 2 miles easy and felt completely miserable.  I was wondering how I was going to complete my three mile tempo.  After a quick bathroom break I did some strides and decided I did not feel too bad.  I took off down the road and felt comfortable for the first almost 2.5 miles, for the last half there is a slight climb and I did start to struggle.  I knew I only had a half mile left to run and just sucked it up and finished with what I had left.  Tempo time - 17:20.  I cannot complain too much, it was better than the last one and I actually felt really good while cooling down.  Overall, a very positive run.

I do not know about anyone else, but tempo runs for me are very difficult to run solo, I run substantially better when I am with someone - go figure!

Nice Scott, After this time off I will start running those tempos with you regularly. I have decided I love the cool down after a hard workout. During the hard part I don't think I can finish but when I do it is rewarding to treat myself to a nice easy cool down to reflect on how tough it was but I worked through it. Today I had the EHS kids do 10X hills about 525 meters, the last part going to their region finish line, they were tired by the time they finished but seemed to like the cool down. I don't think some of them thought they could run another step but did and said they were glad they had made it through the workout.

Scottay... Nice work. I hear you on the running solo thing. But the tempo runs pay off. Have you seen Famiglietti's video?

http://runfam.com/

He talks about how he trains solo in NYC (with a few trips to Flagstaff to train with Lagat and Abdi). But it always inspires me to know that some of the top guys are out there training by themselves. My best results thus far this year have come after I was doing 4 mile tempos on Sat mornings alone out on the canal path. Of course, when I'm on the treadmill during the winter I try to catch a little OC! Later bro.
